Beta 0.92
May 2nd, 2011
Uploaded a new version of the game. Some small tweaks:
- better scrolling system
- time freeze (work in progress) This allows you to stop time by holding down the jump button for a longer period. It’s like pause, but without the button. It allows you to look around at bit and make sense of things to come.
- game pad support (the layout works on a xbox controller, but is not yet properly setup for others. Navigating the menu’s will be annoying. Sorry about that.)
Play at Indigo on the Road
April 20th, 2011
Platformerman is part of the Indigo on the Road selection that is showed at the Festival of Games in Utrecht, the Netherlands. On April 28 and 29 you can play Platformerman and other Dutch indie games. Entrance to the expo area is free. I hope to see you there.
I’ll try and get some new features into the build that will be showcased, if it all works I’ll upload the new version to this site.
So what is next?
December 19th, 2010
Thanks for all the feedback I got on this beta release. Some kind words and some firm critique. The kind words keep me motivated and the critique will make the game better. So what happens from here?
Some things I want to try/change:
- Different scrolling system. The faster you go the more anoying it becomes now. I had my reasons for this approach, but I will look for a way to make this work better.
- The time pressure works well, but sometimes makes it impossible to get an overview of the level structure and plan out your way through. A pause button would help, but I’m pretty sure that there are more elegant solutions.
- Game pad support
- Speed not dependent on frame rate.
- Tutorial level.
Unfortunately this won’t all be done tomorrow : ) At the moment I’m working hard on ibb and obb and that has priority. Platformerman’s development will be slow, so please be patient.

New and improved beta (0.91)
December 4th, 2010
I made some changes to the beta based on the first feedback.
- No more lives. Yep they are gone. Didn’t really add to the game.
- Unlocking destinations can now also be done through weekend trips.
- Turned vsync on… Yes sorry about that before.
- Text renders a lot nicer now.
- Changed the layout of Ailsa Craig. The ending felt a bit too much dependent on luck.
(Your old triptimes.sav should still work just replace the platformerman.exe)
Thanks for the comments so far. Have fun.
Platformerman Beta Release
December 2nd, 2010
The Beta Release is now available for download. It’s still rough, but it’s time for this game to get out of the lab. Feedback is very welcome. Hope you enjoy it.
Platformerman.zip (Windows only, sorry maccies)
There is no tutorial level or something otherwise useful to help you get into the game… So just remember this:
Press space to drop a bomb.
Save your friends.
Destroy your enemies.
Run run run!
